Cadet Teachers

For 25 years, Flowing Wells Junior High has been offering 8th grade students the opportunity to participate in our Cadet Teacher program! Cadet Teachers earn elective credit to work in an elementary classroom at Centennial and Homer Davis Elementary Schools, or in the Flowing Wells Junior High special needs classroom. Cadet Teachers work one-on-one and in small groups with students to help them with reading, math, and art. In addition, our Cadets help the elementary classroom teachers with grading, filing, making copies, and creating bulletin boards. Our Cadet Teachers are trained to be leaders and role models for all students. As a result of being a Cadet Teachers, many of our students decide to pursue a future in the field of education!

Mustang Buddies

Mustang Buddies Collage
Mustang Buddies is a one-of-a-kind program offered at Flowing Wells Junior High. When students choose and are selected to participate in Mustang Buddies as an elective class, they are placed in one-on-one friendships with students with special needs. Students who participate in the Mustang Buddies program become
advocates for people with developmental disabilities and become positive role models for fellow students. They have leadership opportunities that impact our community through awareness projects. Past projects include World Down Syndrome Day, Spread the Word to End the Word campaign, and Autism Awareness. Through Mustang Buddies students are given the opportunity to impact their peers’ lives by simply being a friend to someone who needs it. Become a buddy…it might change your life!
